ISO/IEC 20000

ISO/IEC 20000
ISO/IEC 20000 was introduced in late 2005 as the new independent Standard for Quality in IT Service Management. This quality standard specifies the practical procedures an organization should follow to improve the quality of its IT Service Management processes. A growing number of organizations are looking to become ISO/IEC 20000 certified. Certification demonstrates that their IT service meets international quality standards and that they manage risks inherent in IT Service Management in a safe and responsible manner. Clients invariably demand quality, and the IT services industry is no exception. Demand has increased significantly in the US, Australia, Japan and Europe, with organizations eager to hire certified IT staff with a sound knowledge of ISO/IEC 20000.

Launch new ISO/IEC 20000 qualification program
EXIN and TÜV SÜD Akademie are jointly developing a new, multi-level IT qualification program for ISO/IEC 20000: IT Service Management according to ISO/IEC 20000. This program (pdf) comprises of a Foundation Level, a Professional Level, an IT Management Track and an IT Auditing Track. The new program is perfectly suited for IT professionals already experienced in other successful standards and best practices, such as ITIL®, MOF, COBIT, ISO 9000, CMMI and ASL.

The first exam: ISO/IEC 20000 Foundation (available January 1 2008) familiarizes the participants with the basic objectives and contents of the ISO/IEC 20000 standard, the requirements, guidance and recommendations as described In this standard. Other exams are set to follow, while translations will be available in languages including Spanish and Japanese.

Target group
This multi-level program makes it suitable for a wide range of professionals: operational staff, team leaders, supervisors, managers, consultants, auditors and assessors, including those who want to:

  • learn more about the ISO/IEC 20000 standard.
  • support their organization in the implementation & improvement of ISO/IEC 20000.
  • train their management, consulting & auditing proficiency
  • want to become certified as (senior) managers, consultants or as auditors.

IT professionals who already hold relevant certificates have the option of entering the program at an advanced level.
