Refresh ITIL®: New Foundation exams

ITIL® version 2 and version 3
Along with the publication of new ITIL® literature at the end of May, ITIL® version 3 was introduced. This does not mean that ITIL® version2 will be immediately discarded. Version 2 focuses especially on the description and management of processes, something which most IT organizations at this point in time are requiring the most. Version 3 on the other hand focuses on the results you can attain if you have sorted out the processes (the services). Only a few organizations have reached that phase of maturity. This is why you can keep doing the current EXIN exam (based on version 2) 
IT Service Management Foundation (based on ITIL®) (ITILF) until the end of 2008. This exam is available in fourteen languages, and tests knowledge of ITIL® version 2. Of course once you have obtained an IT Service Management certificate, it will never lose its value.

New APMG exam
As an additional service, exam candidates can also sit the ITIL® version 3 exam of the British exam institute APM Group (APMG) via EXIN. This English-language exam, which is named ITIL® V3 Foundation/APMG (ITV3F), tests basic knowledge of ITIL® version 3. Candidates who pass the exam will be awarded an APMG certificate. This certificate makes exam candidates eligible for EXIN’s certification program. EXIN also hosts this exam worldwide. Exam candidates who sit the APMG exam via EXIN can expect the same level of service and professional supervision during the exam sessions to which they have become accustomed from EXIN. Exam candidates who have completed their APMG ITIL® Foundation exam can continue into EXIN’s broad IT Service Management certification program.
