EXIN supports a new initiative by itSMF USA to introduce a standardized register of qualified IT Service Management professionals. The program priSM, Professional Recognition in IT Service Management, was announced at the recent itSMF Fusion Convention in Dallas, Texas in September. IT professionals now have an opportunity to apply for recognition of their ITSM knowledge, skills and abilities, according to itSMF USA.

EXIN stands firmly behind the principle that IT qualification programs are essential for professional development.
EXIN certification helps professionals:
Once certified, IT professional can then submit their qualifications to the priSM program offering an added level of professional development.
Going globalThis is just the first part in a larger trend to encourage professional recognition and credential verification on a worldwide scale, and it is expected that other itSMF chapters will join this initiative as well.
In the official announcement of the new program, David Cannon, former president of itSMF USA, ITIL V3 co-author and member of the priSM team, said, “As organizations continue to adopt Service Management practices, it will become far more important to have a valid and meaningful credential they can rely upon. The priSM program will start this in the U.S. and create a blueprint that will be used by itSMF International, working with other national chapters to expand the program into internationally recognized credentials for ITSM professionals.”
Initially, itSMF USA will maintain the official registery of professionals and their qualifications. Employers and customer scan then verify the credentials of candidates who are interested in Service Management roles in an organization.
4 Levels to priSMInformation released by itSMF USA indicates there will be four levels of qualification that will be certified by the Institute of Certified Service Management: Associate (entry level), Professional (mid-grade, experienced ITSM professional), and Senior Professional (senior, and well-experienced). The fourth and final level, Fellow, is reserved for those professionals who have made a significant contribution to the sector.
