Sweaty palms, nightmares, a black-out even. Exams may cause you to experience terrible anxiety. Too much! But fear is not at all necessary. After all, our exam requirements set out exactly what you need to know and do before going in to an exam. On top of this, we give you 10 tips that increase your chances of passing an exam. Take notice of these tips when preparing for your exam. Success guaranteed!

Top 10 exam tips
1. Use the exam requirements available for each EXIN exam. These exam requirements set out exactly what topics will be asked in the exam. Besides an overview of the actual exam requirements, you will also find what pre-exam knowledge you need to have and a list of recommended literature to assist with exam preparation.

2. Use sample exams to check whether you really master the course material. A sample exam is no reading exercise, so do not stop to peek at the right answers. Preparing for exams in this way ensures more realistic insight as to what the real exam will be like for you. You can find sample exams at EXIN's e-bookshop on this website.

3. Enter an exam well-rested. Be there on time. Remain calm on your way to the exam location.

4. Start with the easy questions. Do not get stuck at difficult ones, but put those questions aside and return to them later. This way ensures that you will at least have finished the easy questions and have sufficient time for the hard ones.

5. Often, first impressions are best. Therefore, do not change your answers, unless you are absolutely certain that you have made a mistake.

6. Read the question very carefully. Consider what precisely is being asked. If the question demands four arguments, then give four, not three of five. Do not write more then required in the hope that the people marking the exams select the correct answers, because they won’t!

7. When you are finished, check carefully whether you have answered all the questions.

8. The so called ‘Open exam questions’ demand that you compose the entire answer yourself: ensure you write clearly.

9. In the case of multiple choice questions: think of your own answer first before looking at the answers set out on the page. This way, the different options will not confuse or cloud your judgment and you will easily recognize the correct answer in the list.
